Job summary

Southwest Airlines seeks a Sr Manager Income Taxes to lead the teams responsible for income tax compliance and accounting. You will shape tax strategy, manage federal and state filings, quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, and audits while partnering with Finance, FP&A, Investor Relations, and Treasury to drive accurate and timely results.

Required CPA, strong leadership skills, and experience with multistate tax and complex transactions.

Qualifications

• ASC 740 knowledge and accounting for income taxes, SEC disclosures, SOX 404, US corporate tax code, Treasury regs, IRS rulings.
• Strong knowledge of corporate tax, finance, and accounting principles.
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and coaching skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and guide teams through complex work streams.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams responsible for income tax compliance and accounting work.
• Guide federal and state income tax filings, quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, VAT compliance and refund claims, and tax audits.
• Collaborate with Financial Accounting & Reporting, FP&A, Investor Relations, Treasury, auditors and Tax Leadership to evaluate transactions and legislation and identify risks and opportunities.
• Strengthen processes and technology; provide clear guidance across the company and develop a team capable of delivering accurate, timely results.
