Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown, PC in San Diego or San Francisco, CA is seeking a Tax Manager to lead and supervise all tax engagements, mentor staff, and build client relationships.

You will review returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations, research complex tax matters, and drive planning opportunities while ensuring high-quality service. This role requires CPA/JD/MS in Taxation and 5+ years in public accounting, plus travel ability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA license, JD, or MS in Taxation required.
• At least 5 years of public accounting tax experience, leading engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a fast-paced team.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
• Strong organizational, project-management, and detail orientation.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns for accuracy.
• Research and draft memos on complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee tax research projects for diverse clients and industries.
• Manage multiple engagements with teams to meet deadlines.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to staff.
• Lead professional development discussions and training sessions.
