The Senior Tax Manager will manage key client relationships, deliver proactive tax strategies, and ensure the quality and consistency of work across the tax team. This person will also mentor emerging leaders, contribute to internal initiatives, and help advance the firm’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical review of complex individual and business tax returns.
- Lead strategic tax planning and research efforts for high-value clients.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for key clients, ensuring responsive and value-driven service.
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships in coordination with other service teams.
- Coach team members and provide constructive feedback and technical guidance.
- Participate in process improvements, training, and other operational initiatives.
- Review staff work and provide guidance as needed.
- Prepare various tax returns and conduct tax research.
- Represent clients regarding IRS, state, and local tax compliance matters.
- Apply knowledge of GAAP and client financial statements to tax preparation.
- Identify and recommend solutions for technically advanced tax matters.
- Deliver clear and accurate work products in written and verbal formats.
- Conduct complex technical research and prepare research memorandums.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through ongoing communication and exceptional service.
- Cultivate new client relationships through referrals and networking.
- Remain current on technical matters through training and independent study.
- Meet an annual expectation of 1,300 billable hours with a realization rate of 90% or higher.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in accounting or taxation preferred.
- Minimum of eight years of tax experience.
- CPA or EA certification is typically required.
- Expert-level experience preparing and reviewing Form 1040 returns and providing complex tax planning.
- Expert knowledge of accounting principles for pass-through entities with revenue of $100 million or less.
- Specialized knowledge across several industries.
- Ability to prepare AJEs, RJEs, FJEs, and STJEs using sound judgment without relying on prior-year work or supervision.
- Ability to set up a tax return in CCH Engagement from scratch and implement automation for the following year.
- Ability to teach others how to prepare complex tax returns and follow complete tax preparation procedures.
- Ability to review complex tax returns and portions of larger, complex projects.
- Ability to prepare moderately complex tax returns without errors.
- Experience managing a full client portfolio while onboarding additional clients.
- Ability to lead strategic tax conversations with clients.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with relevant tax and accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Full-time position
- In-office work with the flexibility to work from home one to two days per week during non-peak seasons
