Job description

Generations Wealth is an independent wealth management firm serving individuals and families through integrated investment management, financial planning, tax planning and compliance, estate-planning coordination, and family office services.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Practice Leader to lead our tax function and provide sophisticated tax planning, compliance, and advisory services to approximately 60 high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth families.

This position offers an opportunity to practice at a high technical level outside the traditional public-accounting model. The successful candidate will own the complete tax relationship, collaborate with a multidisciplinary advisory team, and help shape the firm’s tax processes, technology, and future direction.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the tax practice and annual compliance cycle, overseeing workflows, calendars, technology, documentation, quality controls, information gathering, preparation, review, e-filing, extensions, payments, and follow-up across federal, state, and local individual, trust, limited partnership, and related returns through signature-ready completion.
  • Provide year-round tax planning and advisory services related to estimated taxes, withholding, charitable giving, retirement contributions and distributions, investments, concentrated positions, trusts, estates, liquidity events, and other significant financial decisions.
  • Review financial statements and bookkeeping records for closely held businesses, identify necessary tax-basis and year-end adjustments, and coordinate with business owners and bookkeepers.
  • Research complex tax matters and translate technical authority into practical, well-supported recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted client adviser, communicating a variety of all kinds of tax issues clearly and integrating tax considerations into clients' broader financial, investment, estate, and personal decisions.
  • Manage tax notices and correspondence with federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
  • Collaborate with financial, investment, estate-planning, legal, and other client advisers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Shape the future of the tax practice by advising firm leadership on staffing, capacity, technology, risk management, processes, and opportunities to enhance client service.
What We’re Looking for
  • Active CPA license and bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive tax experience , with significant expertise in complex individual tax compliance and planning.
  • Experience serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Strong experience preparing and/or reviewing sophisticated individual tax returns.
  • Experience with individual and trust, and/or closely held business tax matters strongly preferred.
  • Ability to review financial statements and bookkeeping records, identify necessary adjustments, and coordinate effectively with bookkeepers and business owners.
  • Strong tax research, written and verbal communication, client-service, organization, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment while collaborating within an integrated advisory team.
  • Experience leading professionals and/or improving tax workflows and quality-control processes preferred.
  • Master of Taxation, LL.M. in Taxation, CFP® certification, or another advanced credential preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with tax-preparation and secure document-management systems; familiarity with CCH Axcess Suite preferred.
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong tax professional who combines sound judgment, organization, responsiveness, and a high level of ownership. They take personal responsibility for delivering accurate, well-supported work while building trusted client relationships and collaborating effectively across the firm. They are comfortable working autonomously, navigating complex problems, and remaining calm and thoughtful during deadline-driven periods.

Why Generations Wealth

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Build enduring relationships with a select group of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families.
  • Integrate tax strategy with clients' broader financial, investment, estate, and personal decisions.
  • Lead and shape an established tax practice within a multidisciplinary family office.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals across tax, investments, financial planning, estate planning, and family office services.
  • Perform sophisticated, meaningful work in an environment designed around sustainable expectations and long-term client relationships, not the traditional public-accounting overtime model.
