Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in the Raleigh area is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to own the tax function, combining hands-on technical work with strategic advisory to senior leadership. You will oversee compliance, the income tax provision, and audits while optimizing processes and controls.

You will collaborate with finance and business leaders to evaluate tax implications of transactions, growth initiatives, and cross-border activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive corporate tax experience with broad exposure to income and indirect taxes and leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 740, federal and multistate taxation, tax compliance, provision work, audit defense, risk management, and tax planning.
• Experience supporting international or cross-border tax matters (VAT/GST, transfer pricing, withholding tax).

Responsibilities

• Lead the company-wide tax function with priorities, processes, and controls across a multi-entity organization.
• Oversee federal, state, local, and international income tax compliance and reporting, including extensions and information reporting.
• Manage ASC 740 income tax provision, including current/deferred taxes and disclosures.
• Oversee indirect tax matters (sales/use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, franchise).
• Evaluate nexus, entity structures, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions for exposure and planning.
• Partner with senior leadership on tax implications of transactions and growth initiatives.
• Lead audits and controversy matters, coordinating with authorities and external advisors.
• Manage relationships with external tax firms and providers for scope and quality.
• Develop and improve tax processes, controls, and workflows for accuracy and efficiency.
• Monitor tax law developments and communicate potential impacts to leadership.
