Job summary

Flood & Associations, a boutique CPA firm in Crystal Lake, IL, seeks an experienced Tax Accountant to work directly with clients and grow into leadership roles. The role features a standard 40-hour week most of the year, with extended hours during tax season (Jan 15–Apr 15), averaging 50–55 hours weekly and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing complex returns, tax planning, and assisting with notices and audits.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with individual, partnership, S corp, C corp, fiduciary, and nonprofit returns.
• Ability to research federal and state tax issues and explain findings.
• Experience ensuring compliance and handling tax notices/audits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corps, C corps, fiduciaries, and nonprofits.
• Provide tax planning and consulting services for clients.
• Research tax issues and communicate findings to clients and team.
• Assist clients with notices, audits, and compliance matters.
• Develop client relationships and collaborate with leadership on strategy.
