Senior Tax Associate – Public Accounting

About the Opportunity
AJ Chambers is partnering with a fast-growing national CPA and advisory firm looking to add an experienced Senior Tax Associate to its expanding Tax practice.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong public accounting tax background who wants to develop beyond traditional compliance work and gain greater exposure to tax planning, consulting and direct client relationships.
You’ll work with a diverse portfolio of middle-market and larger businesses while collaborating closely with experienced Managers and Partners on complex tax matters and proactive planning strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal tax returns for corporations, S corporations and partnerships.
- Provide tax compliance, planning and consulting services across a diverse client portfolio.
- Work directly with clients to understand their businesses and wider tax requirements.
- Assist with identifying tax planning opportunities and developing appropriate strategies.
- Work closely with Partners and senior members of the Tax team on complex client matters.
- Research federal tax issues and support the resolution of technical tax questions.
- Manage multiple client engagements and competing deadlines.
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide a high standard of service.
- Support and provide guidance to junior members of the Tax team where appropriate.
- Utilise tax software and technology to improve the efficiency and quality of engagement delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience within public accounting.
- Recent experience working within a CPA/public accounting firm.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Strong experience with Corporate, S Corporation and/or Partnership tax returns.
- Strong understanding of federal taxation and tax compliance.
- Ability to communicate confidently with clients and colleagues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple engagements and deadlines.
- Experience using professional tax software and accounting technology.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent qualification preferred.
- Master’s degree in Taxation would be advantageous.
