Job summary

Vaco Financial in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join a private company and support federal and state tax compliance, planning, and payments. The role reports to the Tax Director and collaborates with the finance leadership team.

You will manage income tax returns, research tax issues, and assist with mergers, acquisitions, and legislative monitoring. A Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance with CPA eligibility and 3–6 years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 3-6 years of relevant experience in public accounting or corporate tax.
• Strong federal and state income tax technical skills.
• Strong analytical abilities and research skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with peers, auditors and management.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for federal income tax and state income tax compliance functions and ensuring the accurate and timely filing of all income tax returns.
• Ensure the accuracy of estimated and extension income tax payment calculations and the timely filing of the related returns, vouchers, and electronic funds transfers.
• Perform assigned projects involving research and planning to minimize the Company's federal and state income/franchise tax burdens, including working with consultants on such projects.
• Responsible for the Sales/Use Taxes, Tangible/Business Personal Property Taxes, Real Property Taxes, and Business License compliance processes for multiple operating divisions.
• Support the Tax Director as it relates to new business inquiries, mergers and acquisitions, research and planning opportunities, and legislative monitoring/advocacy.
• Develop and maintain broad and in-depth technical knowledge and skills in the federal and state income tax fields that are necessary to effectively manage the Company's tax compliance and tax planning functions.
