Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Tax Advisor to join our Block Advisors office in Oregon. You will prepare complete tax returns for individuals and small businesses, interview clients to understand financial situations, and offer personalized recommendations to optimize tax outcomes.

You will build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and leveraging Block’s training and technology.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns.
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must meet continuing education and IRS/state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and implications.
• Build year-round client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance.
