Job summary

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C. is seeking a senior tax professional with at least three years of public accounting and tax experience to work primarily on compilation/review and tax engagements for our clients.

The role entails preparing personal and corporate returns, reviewing returns, managing tax files, client communication, supervising staff, and contributing to tax planning and research while ensuring quality service and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
• Advanced degree (law or master's in taxation) strongly desired.
• CPA certification strongly desired.
• At least three years of recent public accounting, tax, and review experience.
• At least two years of management experience and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare personal and corporate tax returns, including more complex cases.
• Review returns, except specialized issues.
• Review tax accruals and working papers.
• Lead and supervise tax staff and senior accountants.
• Bill and discuss fees with clients.
• Prepare projections and plan for complex clients.
• Involve in tax planning for less complex clients.
• Analyze IRS notices and draft responses.
• Represent clients before the IRS.
• Mentor and train tax staff; develop client relationships.
