Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor) to prepare complete and accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses, interview clients to understand their financial situations, and offer personalized tax-saving recommendations.

You will build lasting client relationships with empathetic, consultative service and stay current with tax laws, leveraging Block Advisors tools and training. This in-person role is based at a local Block Advisors office.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning and audit support.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication, able to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications, then provide clear recommendations.
• Build year-round client relationships with empathetic, consultative service and identify tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
