Job summary

Helen of Troy is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its Finance team in a hybrid role. The position focuses on reviewing federal, state, and international tax returns, and participating in quarterly and year-end tax provisions for international subsidiaries.

The ideal candidate will manage tax payments and support compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role requires at least 4+ years of tax experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with multinational structures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years of tax experience, preferably in corporate multinational setting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with complex formulas and data analysis.
  • Experience with multinational structures and fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

  • Review federal, state, and international income tax returns prepared by third parties and in-house.
  • Participate in quarterly and year-end tax provisions (ASC 740) for subsidiaries.
  • Prepare income tax payment calculations and manage payment processes.
  • Maintain tax depreciation, control logs, and compliance reporting.
  • Contribute to the tax concepts for non-US subsidiaries.
  • Assist in tax examinations and inquiries as needed.
  • Research complex tax issues at federal, state, and international levels.
  • Prepare GILTI, BEAT, FDII, and E&P calculations.

Position: Senior Tax Accountant
Department: Finance
Work Location(s): Plano, TX or El Paso, TX (work 3 days onsite)
Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Any updates to this model will be communicated in advance. Please note that hybrid eligibility and schedules may vary based on business needs and manager expectations.
What you'll be doing:
  • Review corporate federal, state, and international income tax returns prepared by third parties and prepare other tax filings completed in-house.
  • Participate in the quarterly and year-end tax provisions (using ASC 740) for tax account balance reconciliations of international subsidiaries.
  • Prepare income tax payment calculations and manage payment processes.
  • Maintain tax depreciation, control logs of deliverables, and compliance requirements (transaction, property and/or income taxes, and other informational reporting).
  • Participate in the income tax concepts of non-US subsidiaries.
  • Participate in tax examination inquiries.
  • Research sophisticated federal, state, and international corporate income tax issues.
  • Prepare GILTI, BEAT, FDII, and E&P calculations.
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills, time management, and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in relevant fields: accounting, business administration, economics, finance.
  • 4+ years of tax experience.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Suite; primarily MS Excel, includingdemonstrated expertise in building and auditing complex formulas (e.g., nested IF statements, Index/Match, XLOOKUP, Sum Product, Array formulas, and Dynamic functions for analyzing large datasets).
  • Experience in multinational and sophisticated structures, and fast-paced environments.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA license or qualified for CPA exam.
  • Experience Oracle, OneStream, Workiva.
  • Experience in international tax concepts, inbound, outbound, and non-US.
  • Experience in the consumer products industry.
  • Experience in an in-house corporate tax team, preferably with apublicly traded company.
  • Experience in digital automation and transformation toolsPower BI, Power Pivot, Alteryx, Tableau, Robotic Process Automation.
