Job summary

N/A is seeking a seasoned Take-Off Supervisor to lead the quantity take-off function for heavy civil projects. You will guide a team of estimators, interns, and engineers, ensuring accurate data, cost analysis, and timely bid preparation across multiple bids.

You will review drawings, interpret specifications, and develop data sets including material prices and labor costs, while upholding corporate standards and project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
  • 6+ years take-off, estimating or project experience on a heavy civil or structures project.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in all MS Office products (Excel, Access, etc).
  • Knowledge of CAD and Modeling Software (such as AGTEK, Microstation, Geopack, Inroads, HEC RAS, etc).
  • Thorough knowledge of Granite’s cost systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate quantities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and summarize supplier and subcontract quotations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately while under time pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a take-off team and provide quantity take-offs and ongoing technical support to estimating staff for accurate estimates.

  • Develop job-essential data including quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per hour, and equipment.
  • Supervise take-off department functions including staffing, wage reviews, work assignments and performance evaluations.
  • Supervise, train and develop interns/co-ops, take-off technicians, and engineers to transfer knowledge and uphold project standards.
  • Research historical data and productivity analyses to create guidelines for future estimates.
  • Review take-off data with the estimating team and assist in Bid Closing to reflect project requirements.
  • Maintain files of working documents to support accuracy of bid submissions.
