Job summary

Cambridge is seeking a Senior Tableau Engineer to design, develop, and maintain BI solutions and dashboards that empower data-driven decisions. This hands-on role partners with analytics, data engineering, and business stakeholders to turn trusted data into intuitive, actionable insights.

You will optimize performance, govern data, and support Tableau Server/Cloud while translating complex datasets into executive-ready stories. Strong Tableau, SQL, and data modeling skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in BI or data visualization, incl. 3+ years Tableau in an enterprise.
• Advanced proficiency with Tableau Desktop, Server/Cloud, and Tableau Prep.
• Strong SQL skills and Snowflake or similar cloud data platform.
• Experience with calculated fields, LODs, table calculations, and parameter-driven dashboards.
• Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and semantic layers.
• Experience integrating Tableau with enterprise platforms like Snowflake, Azure, and APIs.
• Ability to translate complex datasets into clear, executive-ready insights.
• Attention to detail, data quality, visual design, and customer service.
• Ability to manage priorities, work independently, and troubleshoot production issues.

Responsibilities

• Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards, workbooks, and visual analytics for decision-making.
• Business Partnership: Gather requirements, clarify KPIs, and translate business questions into visuals.
• Trusted Data: Partner with data engineers to build BI solutions on analytics-ready data sources.
• Metric Consistency: Develop semantic layers, calculated fields, filters, and certified data sources.
• Performance Optimization: Improve dashboard speed via data modeling, queries, and caching.
• Visualization and UX: Apply layout, accessibility, storytelling, and UX standards for intuitive analytics.
• Platform Support: Support Tableau Server/Cloud publishing, permissions, and production troubleshooting.
• Governance & Security: Implement governance, access controls, lineage, and data quality practices.
• Documentation: Document dashboards, data sources, and calculations for end users.
• Collaboration: Work with analytics, product, business, and technology teams to influence standards.
