Job description

The University of South Carolina’s Division of Information Technology is seeking a Senior Tableau Developer to join our dynamic analytics team.

This role will be critical in advancing the University’s analytics platform, Carolina Analytics, powered by Tableau Server. As a Senior Tableau Developer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, and IT professionals, to deliver high-quality, data-driven insights that support decision-making at all levels of the University.

This position is on-site in Columbia, SC.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Tableau development, including Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop.
  • Proven ability to create complex, dynamic Tableau dashboards that generate strategic insights.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience querying large datasets.
  • Familiarity with data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience optimizing Tableau Server performance and maintaining user security protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, lead projects, and collaborate within a team.
  • Tableau Certification (Desktop Certified Professional or Server Certified Associate).
  • Experience in higher education or public sector analytics is preferred.
  • Knowledge of other analytics tools and programming languages such as Python, R, or Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise data platforms and cloud-based analytics solutions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep.
  • Expertise in SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or R is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with APIs and data connectors for Tableau integration.
