Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Facilities Management TAB team seeks a Senior TAB Technician who leads airside and hydronic balancing across UVA’s diverse facilities. This role combines hands-on field work with technical analysis, design review, and mentoring of junior technicians.

You will plan TAB activities, verify instrumentation, read drawings, coordinate with project teams, and ensure reports meet NEBB/AABC and project specs while advancing energy-efficient operation.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: at least 7 years in HVAC or controls.
• Licensure: NEBB/AABC certification preferred or obtainable within one year.
• Familiarity with BAS systems and ability to read drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead TAB field operations for complex airside and hydronic systems.
• Plan and execute TAB activities for projects.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate TAB instrumentation and tools.
• Verify system performance against design intent and document results.
• Prepare and review TAB reports; ensure QA and standards compliance.
