Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Computer Scientist to lead advanced testing and deployment activities for mission-critical systems. You will validate configurations, support backup system administration, and document results across hardware and software teams.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of experience, TS/SCI with polygraph, and proven automation skills in JavaScript, Python, or C#. This role emphasizes rigorous testing, firmware updates, and secure networked environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in hardware and software testing; or 2 years with a Master’s degree.
• Experience updating firmware, validating configuration data, and analyzing complex systems.
• Experience in system and network administration and ability to serve in a backup support capacity.
• Proven ability to automate tasks with scripting languages (JavaScript, Python, C#).
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Experience working in and supporting secure, networked environments.
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Test hardware capabilities and document performance for networked systems; identify and report hardware restrictions.
• Assist with updating and maintaining firmware for fielded and developmental hardware platforms.
• Validate configuration information and ensure accurate integration across software, hardware, and networked systems.
• Serve as a backup to system administrators, supporting basic administration and troubleshooting needs.
• Analyze hardware and software restrictions to optimize network integration and operational effectiveness.
• Conduct thorough software testing, reproduce field issues in lab settings, and document results.
• Report identified software bugs to development teams and support bug resolution efforts.
• Automate repetitive testing and configuration tasks through scripting.
