Job summary

AeroVironment, based in California, is seeking a Computer Scientist to lead advanced hardware and software testing, oversee deployments, and sustain complex technical assets in mission-critical environments. You will collaborate across hardware, software, and network teams to ensure system integrity and robust operation.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or higher in a related field, 10+ years of testing experience (or 2+ years with a Master’s), and TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant, progressive experience in hardware and software testing; or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree.
• Experience updating firmware, validating configuration data, and analyzing complex systems.
• Experience in system and network administration and ability to serve in a backup support capacity.
• Proven scripting experience with JavaScript, Python, and C#.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Experience working in and supporting secure, networked environments.
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.

Responsibilities

• Test hardware capabilities and document performance for networked systems.
• Assist with updating firmware for fielded and developmental hardware.
• Validate configuration information and ensure accurate integration across software, hardware, and networks.
• Serve as a backup to system administrators and provide basic admin support.
• Analyze hardware and software restrictions to optimize network integration.
• Conduct thorough software testing and replicate field issues in lab settings.
• Report software bugs to development teams and assist in resolution.
• Use PROTOSS for diagnostics and reporting.
• Perform installations and troubleshooting on various hardware platforms and projects.
• Automate repetitive testing and configuration tasks via scripting.
• Create and maintain documentation of testing practices and outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings to stakeholders.
