Job summary

AV in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a Sr. Staff System Test Engineer (Principal Engineer) to develop and execute System Test Plans for small unmanned air vehicles and missiles and their subsystems. Testing spans simulators, ground and flight tests, with data logging and analysis.

You will lead test activities, prepare test cards, review requirements, and work with product development engineers. Strong experience in UAV testing, instrumentation, MATLAB/Excel, and 10–30% travel within the US is

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related discipline required.
• 12–15 years of system or flight testing experience.
• Effective in technical discussion with test instrumentation experts.
• Experience documenting test plans and directing UAV operations.
• Travel within the Continental US 10–30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead developmental test and evaluation of subsystems and full-scale tests.
• Develop test cards to verify test objectives.
• Review system requirements for clarity and testability.
• Lead test readiness reviews, briefs and debriefs.
• Prepare test assets and configure hardware/software; maintain test equipment.
• Analyze test data using MATLAB or Excel and document results.
• Record test outcomes in an issue-tracking system.
• Develop system test plans for UAVs and missiles; execute tests and document results.
• Estimate testing duration and ensure task completion within schedule.
• Collaborate with product engineers to derive test requirements; supervise teammates if needed.
