Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a seasoned Staff/Principal Security Engineer for its San Antonio site. The role focuses on hands-on development of secure sensor payloads and anti-tamper/cybersecurity solutions for DoD hardware/software.

You will ensure compliance with JSIG, NIST 800-53, CNSSI, and related directives while collaborating with government teams. Responsibilities include architecture design, requirements derivation, testing, and verification, plus exportability governance and security testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Engineering or Mathematics field with 8 years of related experience; or a Master’s with 6 years; or a PhD with 4 years.
• 2–3 years of Systems Engineering experience with DoD platforms, sensors, or subsystems (e.g., EO/IR, embedded software, cryptography).
• Experience with anti-tamper or cybersecurity, risk management framework, and security testing.
• U.S. citizen able to obtain/maintain Secret (or higher) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on experience in developing sensor payloads and secure mission security solutions.
• Design architecture, conduct trade studies, derive requirements, perform testing, and validation.
• Implement anti-tamper/cybersecurity controls and ensure compliance with US Government policies.
• Coordinate with government programs and international teams on export/compliance.
• Participate in security testing, analysis, and documentation of security plans and POA&Ms.
