Impact

As a Senior Systems & Security Engineer at our organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security, availability, and performance of both our physical and cloud-based infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing Linux servers, automating infrastructure, and enhancing our security posture through continuous monitoring and vulnerability mitigation. By collaborating with the CISO and development teams, your contributions will ensure that our systems are resilient, secure, and optimized to support business operations, enabling smooth DevOps processes and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Server Management: Manage and maintain Linux-based servers in both colo (physical) and AWS (cloud) environments, ensuring high availability and scalability for critical infrastructure.
• System Patching & Updates: Monitor, patch, and apply OS, package, and software updates, prioritizing proactive security updates to mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Security Operations & CISO Support: Assist the CISO in monitoring security vulnerabilities, managing incident responses, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Vendor Collaboration: Work with security vendors for system audits, tool implementations, and reviews to enhance security infrastructure.
• System Hardening: Perform security hardening tasks for systems, servers, and the edge perimeter to ensure robust defense against potential threats.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use Ansible and Terraform to automate infrastructure deployment, implementing best practices for version-controlled and reliable infrastructure.
• Networking & Management: Design and manage network topologies in both colo and AWS environments, focusing on high availability and low-latency connectivity.
• Perimeter Security: Harden network perimeter security, configure firewalls, VPNs, and deploy DDoS protection to safeguard against external threats.
• Global Performance Optimization: Configure and operate CDNs and geo-location optimizations to enhance performance for global users.
• CI/CD & DevOps Pipelines: Support and integrate secure, efficient SDLC pipelines using GitHub workflows, collaborating with development teams to ensure scalability and security.

Required Qualifications

• Linux Server Management: Extensive experience managing and troubleshooting Linux servers (both physical and cloud-based).
• Security Awareness: Ability to stay on top of security vulnerabilities, patch management, and hardening techniques.
• Networking Expertise: Knowledge of networking, including high availability configurations and security hardening at the perimeter.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in Ansible and Terraform for managing infrastructure as code.
• CI/CD Knowledge: Experience with GitHub workflows and integrating security and deployment pipelines.
• Edge Security & CDN: Experience with CDNs, geo-optimization, and DDoS protection at the edge.
• Cloud & Data Center Management: Experience managing cloud resources in an AWS environment as well as cololocated physical infrastructure.

Ideal Qualifications

• Information Security Expertise: Familiarity with penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and incident response.
• Linux Performance Optimization: Knowledge of kernel optimizations, DPDK, CPU isolation, or other low-latency performance enhancements.
• AWS Cost Optimization: Experience with resource and cost optimization strategies in AWS.
