Focused Energy is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to support our Austin facility. You will partner with engineering and operations to identify hazards, evaluate system risks, and implement practical safety controls during design, installation, validation and operation.
The role collaborates with the safety function in Germany while owning local engineering safety execution. You will lead hazard analyses, translate findings into interlocks and procedures, and support commissioning,
Qualifications
- Experience performing structured hazard analyses and turning findings into controls.
- Collaboration with engineering and operations teams in fast-moving environments.
- Knowledge of safety hazards across electrical, mechanical, laser, cryogenic, and process domains.
Responsabilités
- Act as the engineering safety partner for the Austin site across design, installation, validation and operation.
- Lead hazard analyses (HAZID, FMEA, JHA) for laser systems and facility systems.
- Translate hazards into design requirements, interlocks and operating controls.
- Provide hands-on safety support during installation, commissioning and startup activities.
- Develop safe operating envelopes, lockout/tagout and access controls.
- Document risk assessments and safety reviews to support project execution.
