Job summary

Twenty-Six Defense is seeking a Staff Systems Safety Engineer to serve as the organization-wide authority on safety for all products and services, guiding best practices and enterprise-level safety engineering across multiple platforms.

The role leads safety integration into design, test, configuration management, and cross-functional processes, drives continual improvement, and ensures compliance with MIL-STD-882E, NAS411, SAE ARP4761, DO-178, FAA guidance, and other safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 14+ years of relevant work experience in systems safety engineering.

Responsibilities

• Perform required safety engineering tasks and analyses in contractual SOW.
• Develop and deliver safety documentation (SAR, SSHA, HTS, FTA, FMEA, FMECA, FHA).
• Establish and govern safety processes and frameworks across design reviews and program plans.
• Chair Safety Review Board and drive safety governance across programs.
• Lead customer mishap investigations and shape industry best practices.
• Interface with safety authorities and translate requirements into robust specifications.

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace), or a related technical field
