Job summary

NC State University in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Systems Programmer/Specialist to lead the Central Services and Integration team, delivering Linux system installation, patching, automation, and configuration management across campus.

The role requires strong Linux experience, proficiency with Git, Foreman and CM tools, and the ability to work in a 24x7 on‑call rotation while aligning with PCI‑DSS, NIST 800‑171 and ISO 27002 standards to keep systems secure and reliable.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Linux based operating systems.
• Experience in managing/maintaining Linux image deployment at scale.
• Ability to work with Git, Foreman and CM tooling.
• Programming or scripting experience for automation.
• Experience with PCI-DSS/NIST security standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture design and provisioning of Linux images at scale.
• Provide patch management and CM automation; mentor team members.
• Support security standards and 24x7 on‑call rotation.
• Assist customers to improve reliability of systems/services.
