Job summary

HID Global seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to ensure reliability, performance, and security of core systems and infrastructure. You will own mission‑critical environments, implement scalable solutions, and drive automation across provisioning, monitoring, and incident handling.

The role requires deep technical expertise, proactive, detail‑oriented mindset, and strong collaboration with Security, DevOps, Network Engineering, and Application teams to sustain platform stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required.
• 5+ years of systems engineering or operations experience.
• Strong Linux/Windows server administration skills.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and containerized apps.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain server, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance to meet SLAs.

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the reliability, performance, and security of the organization’s core systems and infrastructure. As our Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll support HID’s successby:

• Engaging in the design, deployment, and maintenance of server, storage, and cloud infrastructure across production and non‑production environments.
• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing system performance, ensuring high availability and adherence to SLAs.
• Building and maintaining automation for system provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and incident handling.
• Serving as an escalation point for complex operational issues, driving root‑cause analysis and long‑term remediation.
• Developing and maintaining detailed system architecture documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
• Implementing and managing robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
• Collaborating closely with Security, DevOps, Network Engineering, and Application teams to ensure end ‑ to ‑ end platform stability.
• Driving lifecycle management for infrastructure components, including patching, upgrades, and capacity planning.
• Participating in the on‑call rotation and leading response efforts during major incidents.
• Evaluating and recommending new technologies, tools, and processes to continuously improve operational maturity.
• Designing and deploying new infrastructure solutions.
• Automating workflows, provisioning, and system management tasks.
• Leading root ‑ cause analysis and driving long ‑ term remediation strategies.
• Collaborating with cross ‑ functional teams for projects and platform improvements.
• Evaluating and recommending new technologies and tools.
• Supporting SAFe/Agile ceremonies and contributing to iterative delivery cycles.
• Participating in capacity planning and infrastructure roadmap development.

YourExperienceand Background include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or operations, with emphasis on production‑grade infrastructure.
• Strong expertise with Linux and/or Windows server administration.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience managing containerized applications and orchestration tools (Docker, containerd, Kubernetes, Nomad, etc.)
• Proficiency with Git‑based version control systems (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Hands‑on experience with monitoring and observability platforms.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, load balancing, firewalls, routing).
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Proven experience in incident management and root ‑ cause analysis.
• Experience designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing enterprise ‑ grade networks, including Layer 2/3 switching, routing protocols, load balancers, and network security controls.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• Working knowledge of SAFe and Agile practices, including participation in ceremonies and alignment to iterative delivery workflows
• Background with identity management, SSO, and enterprise authentication systems.
• Certifications in cloud or systems engineering fields (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator or Architect, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), ITIL Foundation, etc.)
