Job description

An Amazing Career Opportunity for a Business Unit Senior Finance Manager !!

Location: Austin, TX

Job ID: 52497

The Business Unit Senior Finance Manager is a strategic controller who co-owns the BU strategy and results with the Managing Director, and builds what it takes to drive the right decisions towards growth. This role shapes the BU strategy, owns the integrity of its financial results, and turns insight into decisions on pricing, investments, and growth. You will lead the annual plan, forecasts, and monthly performance reviews, present to senior leadership, and influence business leaders with clear, decision-ready recommendations. Hands-on and scrappy by design, you will build the models, dashboards, and reporting the BU needs, often from imperfect data, while partnering with Shared Services and finance peers to raise the bar on how finance supports the business.

  • Developing and co‑owning the BU strategy with the Managing Director, shaping where to play, how to win, and how to fund growth.
  • Owning the integrity of BU results end‑to‑end, including balance sheet oversight, controls, and accounting judgment, while partnering with Shared Services as an extension of the team.
  • Building financial models, dashboards, and automated reporting solutions, often leveraging complex or incomplete data to drive insights without waiting for system enhancements.
  • Serving as the primary finance partner on pricing, investments, and commercial decisions, ensuring financial discipline and challenging proposals that do not meet return expectations.
  • Leading day‑to‑day financial analysis activities in support of the assigned Business Unit (BU).
  • Collaborating with Accounting Shared Services on month‑end close activities and conducting variance analyses to identify key business drivers.
  • Owning the full P&L performance of the BU.
  • Preparing and presenting monthly BU Performance Reviews to senior leadership.
  • Leading annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes for the BU.
  • Preparing and delivering financial reviews and recommendations to company senior leadership.
  • Creating ad‑hoc financial analyses and executive presentations to support business reviews and strategic decision‑making.
  • Partnering closely with business leaders on strategic initiatives and projects, including profitability analysis, IRR assessments, and payback evaluations.
  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities, recommending actions, and influencing stakeholders to achieve financial commitments.
  • Leading the analysis and communication of key performance metrics to business and company leadership.
  • Connecting business and functional activities to financial performance, translating complex results into actionable insights for key leaders.
  • Influencing business and functional leaders through data‑driven recommendations and executive‑level presentations.
  • Participating as a trusted advisor in business discussions, decisions, and future planning activities.
  • Providing guidance, coaching, and development to team members on priorities, processes, and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Collaborating with finance peers to enhance tools, improve efficiency, and strengthen business support and deliverables.
Your Experience and Background include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree and 7+ years of related experience; or Equivalent education and work experience
  • Proven record of influencing strategic decisions, such as pricing, investments, portfolio choices, or M&A, as a trusted partner to a general manager or managing director.
  • Strong accounting foundation in US GAAP and/or IFRS, with hands‑on experience in internal controls and audit.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, including building driver‑based models from scratch.
  • Proficient user of AI for business analysis
  • Hands‑on experience with Oracle analytical platforms or comparable ERP and data warehouse tools.
  • Track record of presenting clear, decision‑ready recommendations to executive and cross‑functional audiences.
  • Operates with a commercially curious, growth‑oriented mindset
  • Takes a leading role in shaping how their work fits into the larger picture for their team and develops solutions accordingly for proposal
  • Has a strong sense of foresight, anticipates stakeholder needs and questions to present appropriate solutions
  • Skilled at 'looking around the corner' to identify areas where efficiency can be gained, processes can be improved, and avoids the need to course‑correct
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities
  • CPA or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience in high‑change environments such as ERP implementations, carve‑outs, newly acquired businesses, or turnarounds is preferred.
  • Experience working with start‑up companies highly desired is preferred.
