Job summary

G&W Electric in Romeoville, Illinois, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to own and advance our Windows/Linux server environments, virtualization, backup, and security. You will develop standards, roadmaps, and lead infrastructure projects from design through deployment and operations.

You will collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams to maintain secure configurations, implement automation, and drive improvements in reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise systems administration.
• Advanced experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments and core enterprise infrastructure services.
• Strong experience with enterprise virtualization, storage, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, service accounts, privileged access, and related infrastructure services.
• Experience with PowerShell, scripting, or other automation technologies used to improve infrastructure administration and operational efficiency.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and systems issues and perform root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise Windows and Linux server environments, including OS, AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, patching.
• Manage and support enterprise virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure, including capacity, performance, upgrades, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
• Administer enterprise backup and recovery platforms and ensure backup reliability, retention, recoverability, and alignment with disaster recovery requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and test backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency processes for business-critical systems.
• Lead infrastructure projects from requirements and solution design through planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and transition to ongoing support.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams to maintain secure configurations, remediate vulnerabilities, and support security and compliance requirements.
