Job summary

General Atomics seeks a Systems Engineer Manager with space domain experience to lead a diverse engineering team in San Diego, CA. You will own system design, integration, test, and schedule for space and airborne payload programs, ensuring cost, schedule and performance goals are met.

Responsibilities include coordinating with program leadership, maturing requirements, managing staff, and driving process improvements while maintaining DoD clearance readiness and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Masters/PhD in engineering or related field with 11+ years of experience.
• Proven leadership in space or airborne payload systems.
• Experience with SRR/SFR/PDR/CDR/TRR/AR reviews.
• Strong knowledge of DOORS, requirements management.
• Ability to travel and work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and collaboration across programs to align budgets with PMP.
• Oversee IMS inputs and resource planning for multiple programs.
• Direct staff and ensure cost, schedule, and performance commitments.
• Define system engineering processes across design, development, and test.
• Provide status updates to engineering management and leadership.
• Support security, regulatory, and safety obligations.
