A Day in the Life

Medtronic's Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business seeks a motivated Senior Systems Engineering Manager to join our high-performing team. In this role, you will leverage your technical and business skills to accelerate the design and development of next-generation medical devices, impacting patients worldwide and supporting Medtronic's mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.

This management position requires strong technical and leadership skills to support innovative product development within the Cardiac and Vascular Group. You will lead a team of Systems Engineers, oversee daily activities, talent development, and drive organizational excellence.

The ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, motivated, and possesses exceptional soft skills for team collaboration.

This role is based in Mounds View, MN.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional teams to make timely decisions and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Drive systems engineering strategies, including process improvements and organizational changes.
  • Focus on test execution strategies, both manual and automated.
  • Manage engineering labs, including budgeting and resourcing.
Talent Development
  • Manage and develop the Systems Engineering team.
  • Mentor engineers in technical and leadership skills.
  • Recruit skilled professionals to meet organizational goals.
Program Execution
  • Coordinate with business units and partners to develop technical solutions.
  • Ensure robust technical solutions and risk management plans.
  • Lead system engineering activities throughout product development.
Strategic Planning
  • Identify long-term opportunities to advance the engineering function.
  • Align talent strategies with R&D portfolio goals.
  • Drive strategic initiatives like test automation and model-based design.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel approximately once per quarter.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years relevant experience with 5+ years managerial experience, or advanced degree with at least 5 years relevant experience and managerial experience.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
  • Experience as a System Engineer or in key program roles.
  • Versatile, technically savvy, and a broad systems thinker.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and management audiences.
  • Experience managing large teams and understanding of CRHF domain, especially software development processes.
Additional Qualifications
  • Degrees in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields preferred.
  • Extensive experience in product development and technical leadership.
  • Experience with DevOps, test automation, MBSE, and design for Six Sigma is advantageous.
