Job summary

Independent Software is seeking a Level 6 Systems Engineer to provide senior‑level systems engineering and technical leadership for complex laboratory environments and mission systems. You will manage lab activities, infrastructure, hardware, software, networking, RF systems, and facility requirements to ensure capabilities remain operational and secure.

The role requires broad technical knowledge across enterprise IT, RF and networking, virtualization, Linux environments, and secure facility

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 20+ years Systems Engineering experience or 24+ years with HS diploma.
• Fields include Aeronautical, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems Engineering, and Engineering Management.
• Related disciplines include Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate laboratory space, activities, resources, and infrastructure.
• Develop lab space utilization plans and milestone schedules.
• Install, configure, and integrate servers, networking gear, RF equipment, and storage hardware.
• Maintain lab diagrams, wiring, and rack elevations.
• Support RF configurations, GPS timing, and fiber-optic connections between facilities.
• Support Linux environments and virtualization (Red Hat, CentOS, Kubernetes).
• Maintain storage and infrastructure technologies (NetApp).
• Coordinate inventory, shipping/receiving, and hardware placement.
• Ensure secure lab requirements and security documentation.
• Coordinate EMI and other testing activities.
• Monitor safety, space utilization, and infrastructure needs.
• Provide senior technical leadership across mission teams.
