Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Rochester, NY seeks a Sr Specialist in System Engineering for Space Optical Systems. The role focuses on system architecture, design and MBSE support within space-based optics programs.

You’ll lead technical analyses, manage specifications, and drive design reviews while mentoring junior engineers. A TS/SCI clearance is highly desirable; relocation assistance is available for qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related scientific discipline; minimum 6 years of experience. Graduate degree with 4 years of related experience; in lieu of a degree, 10 years of related experience.
• Professional systems engineering experience supporting requirements, design, manufacturing, and integration of systems.
• 2+ years systems engineering experience with space-based payloads or aerospace vehicle systems.
• Experience in aerospace or space industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute system architecture and system design plans.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform technical analysis, manage specifications, and generate design reviews and technical documents.
• Support product test and design verification, requirements sell-off, risk assessments, and end item data package generation.
• Mentor and train junior engineers to strengthen the team’s technical expertise.
• Engage in continuous process improvement to enhance engineering efficiency and MBSE usage.
• Contribute to proposal development and program planning activities.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. TS/SCI clearance upon hire.
