Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer to respond to and remediate vulnerabilities on VMs and containers, while automating processes to improve the security program. You will partner with Compliance and Security teams, with a focus on Linux infrastructure and configuration management.

The role covers reviewing scans, risk analysis, patching container images, writing Puppet or Ansible playbooks, and coordinating upgrades. Hybrid work: 2–3 days in the office in San Diego, CA or Kirkland, WA.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in Linux infrastructure and config management tools.
• Experience with Puppet or Ansible in production environments.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, containers, and security posture assessment.
• Hands-on container security scanning and vulnerability assessment.
• Experience with vulnerability management in cloud environments.
• Ability to work with globally distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, track, respond to vulnerabilities and drive remediation.
• Develop mitigation strategies across the organization.
• Write and deploy Puppet or Ansible playbooks to resolve vulnerabilities.
• Assess and remediate container image vulnerabilities across registries and Kubernetes.
• Prepare for planned change introduction to ServiceNow environment.
• Coordinate software upgrades with teams.
• Define hardening policies to improve security posture.
• Review and respond to vulnerability scans and incidents.
