Job summary

Saab is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team in East Syracuse, NY, developing complex electronic surveillance systems for commercial and government customers.

You will lead top-level design, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure technical, cost, and schedule objectives are met while managing risk. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 7+ years in safety-critical industries are required; advanced credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in safety-critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, nuclear).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships within a team.
• Experience with requirements management, system design, and system integration.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 2 weeks per year.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical investigation and top-level design for new feature development and change requests from internal/external stakeholders.
• Lead development of primary and secondary radar products which provide safety-critical surveillance throughout the world.
• Develop and maintain specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal processes.
• Balance competing interests from multiple stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate with product development management to ensure objectives are achieved while managing risk.
• Develop and propose new technologies and capabilities to enhance product performance.
• Support technical and cost proposal preparation for future programs.
