Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to join a major investment banking client in New York City with hybrid onsite work (3 days per week on site). The role focuses on designing, building, and documenting enterprise lab and QA environments used to evaluate and validate new technologies before production deployment.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience across Microsoft infrastructure, VMware, storage, networking, backup/recovery, cloud platforms, and automation.

Qualifications

• Experience in systems engineering, lab/QA environments, and production support.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure, architecture, and deployments.
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure experience (Windows Server, AD, Azure, Microsoft 365, SQL Server).
• VMware administration and virtual infrastructure management.
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup and recovery solutions.
• Networking knowledge including Cisco, VLANs, routing, switching, connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience with technology evaluation, testing, and validation.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience in financial services, banking, or other regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise lab and QA environments.
• Create production-like environments for testing, validation, resiliency, and proof-of-concept activities.
• Manage lab lifecycle processes, including provisioning, access, inventory, governance, and decommissioning.
• Evaluate and validate new technologies, upgrades, and modernization initiatives before production deployment.
• Develop and maintain lab documentation, architecture diagrams, test plans, procedures, and results.
• Support Microsoft infrastructure, VMware, storage, backup/recovery, networking, and cloud platforms.
• Automate provisioning, testing, environment refreshes, and operational processes.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, networking, cloud, and security environments.
• Drive continuous improvement by reducing deployment risk, configuration drift, and operational inefficiencies.

Insight Global is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join one of their investment banking clients in New York City, Warren, NJ or Westport, CT. This individual will be responsible for designing, building, managing, and documenting enterprise lab and test environments used to evaluate, test, automate, and validate new technologies before production deployment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure engineer who enjoys building environments from scratch and has strong expertise across Microsoft infrastructure, VMware virtualization, storage, networking, backup/recovery, Microsoft 365, Azure, SQL Server, and automation. This person will partner with infrastructure, architecture, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to support innovation initiatives, proof-of-concepts, technology evaluations, platform modernization, Never Down readiness, and repeatable QA/lab validation practices. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week onsite.

Skills and Requirements

• 10+ years of Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, lab engineering, QA/test environment, or production support experience
• Experience supporting enterprise lab, QA, or test environments
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365, SQL Server)
• Hands-on VMware administration and virtual infrastructure management
• Experience with enterprise storage, backup, and recovery solutions
• Cisco networking knowledge, including VLANs, routing, switching, and connectivity troubleshooting
• Strong infrastructure engineering experience with technology evaluation, testing, and validation
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, or other highly regulated industry experience
• Experience with AI, infrastructure automation, or platform engineering
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools
• Palo Alto firewall experience and knowledge of enterprise security controls
• Experience in financial services, banking, or other regulated environments
• Background supporting cloud modernization, resiliency, or high-availability initiatives
• Familiarity with VMware, NetApp, Azure, Microsoft 365, SQL Server, Cisco, backup/recovery, monitoring tools, and ServiceNow/CMDB environments
