With a comprehensive portfolio and deep technical expertise, we help customers meet the demands of the global market. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.

Role Description

Embark on a career where your engineering leadership will help shape the future of our nation’s most critical defense capabilities. At Collins Aerospace, we are advancing Nuclear Command and Control (NC2) technologies in support of strategic nuclear deterrence missions across multiple programs. You will contribute to systems engineering, requirements development, and nuclear surety activities that influence the next generation of NC2‑focused systems.

As a Nuclear Surety Engineer on our team, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your expertise across the full systems engineering lifecycle—from pursuit and order capture through system design, requirement development and allocation, integration, verification, and qualification. You’ll work closely with systems, software, and hardware engineers, as well as project and program leadership to ensure rigorous engineering and nuclear surety standards are met throughout all phases of development.

We’re looking for a subject matter expert in Nuclear Surety that loves solving complex problems, has a desire to learn, and is motivated by meaningful mission impact. Our customers come from diverse backgrounds, and so do our employees. If you're passionate about contributing to the future of U.S. strategic deterrence, we'd love to hear from you.

What You Will Do
  • Support the development of key nuclear surety products, including nuclear surety impact statements, Certification Requirements Plans (CRPs), Nuclear Surety Analysis Reports (NSARs), Nuclear Surety Management Plans (NSMPs), and related technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to review work products, coordinate engineering activities, and ensure all certification requirements are met across the program.
  • Lead technical proposal efforts, contribute as a subject matter expert during internal and customer reviews, and support estimation, tracking, and reporting of technical, cost, schedule, and risk performance for your assigned scope.
What You Will Learn
  • Gain deep exposure to nuclear surety principles, certification processes, and mission‑critical NC2 systems while working alongside experienced engineers and technical leaders.
  • Develop leadership and communication skills through opportunities to serve as a technical reviewer, contributor to proposal development, and liaison across teams.
  • Expand your systems engineering toolkit through experience with requirements development, project planning, certification documentation, Agile methods, and MBSE tools used across modern defense programs.
  • Grow your knowledge of strategic deterrence operations and gain insight into how advanced systems support nuclear mission readiness and security.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or, in the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Strategic nuclear operations mission experience, particularly within Nuclear Triad programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a professional team environment.
  • Organizational skills that enable management of multiple tasks, priorities, and schedules.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Ability to travel domestically, up to 10 percent.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to iterative engineering cycles.
  • Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience with project planning, execution, and development of requirements specifications.
  • Background in Bid and Proposal (B&P) or pursuit capture activities.
  • Experience supporting USSTRATCOM Airborne Command Post or National Airborne Operations Center missions.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Three weeks of vacation for newly hired employees.
  • Generous 401(k) plan that includes employer matching funds and separate employer retirement contribution, including a Lifetime Income Strategy option.
