Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development seeks an Engineer 7/6 level expert to lead design and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems for statewide movable bridges, tunnels, and pump stations. You will prepare plans, specifications, and estimates, and ensure designs meet DOTD and FHWA standards.

Role includes field collaboration, project reviews, and guiding junior staff while managing critical repairs and modernization projects with strict timelines.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following: two years of licensed engineering experience; or six years of professional engineering experience.
• Experience substitutions include: master's degree substituting for one year, doctorate for two years, and advanced degrees substituting for up to two years.
• Louisiana licenses are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board; licensing requirements may be viewed at LAPELS website.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a leader and departmental authority in a broad area or a specialized engineering field.
• Design and supervise engineering systems for movable bridges, tunnels, and pump stations; develop PS&Es and construction estimates.
• Provide engineering support during construction, review submittals, and ensure compliance with design standards.
