Job summary

MITRE is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to apply and grow expertise in the design, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and systems-of-systems for federal agencies. You will work with MBSE, digital engineering, and data analytics to identify capability gaps and provide actionable recommendations.

The role requires 5+ years in systems engineering, a technical degree, and eligibility for Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in systems engineering and enterprise architecture with a degree.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, or R for quantitative analyses.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Government clearance; US citizenship required.
• On-site work 4 days a week is required.

Responsibilities

• Applying your systems and mission engineering expertise, with awareness of sponsor needs, to identify and shape areas where MITRE can have significant impact.
• Applying modern methods and tools — such as MBSE, Digital Engineering, Mission Engineering, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics — to assess needs, architectures, designs, performance constraints and gaps, proposed changes, and verification/test approaches.
• Evaluating and comparing alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques; exploring large tradespaces while articulating uncertainties and risks.
• Identifying or developing metrics to measure robustness, resiliency, interoperability, quality, and maintainability of systems.
• Leading requirements management and analysis, interface management, architecture development/change management, and test/evaluation processes.
• Performing system design and development, systems modernization, and architecture activities using MBSE and digital engineering approaches.
• Translating analysis results into actionable recommendations for U.S. Government agencies and mentoring junior engineers.
