Job summary

MITRE, a nonprofit engineering and technology organization, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to apply and grow expertise in enterprise systems and systems-of-systems, supporting design, implementation, and integration for federal missions.

You will translate analysis results into actionable recommendations for U.S. Government agencies and provide technical guidance while mentoring junior engineers, leveraging MBSE, digital engineering, and advanced analytics across complex domains.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering and enterprise architecture with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a Master’s, or PhD with relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages for quantitative analyses (MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, or R)
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance (U.S. Citizen)
• Minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Responsibilities

• Applying systems and mission engineering expertise to identify areas with high impact
• Using MBSE, Digital Engineering, Mission Engineering, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics to assess requirements, architectures, designs, and gaps
• Evaluating alternative architectures with qualitative and quantitative techniques and analyzing major uncertainties and risks
• Developing metrics to measure system properties like robustness, interoperability, quality, and maintainability
• Leading requirements management, interface management, architecture development, and test/evaluation processes
• Performing system design, modernization, and architecture activities using MBSE and digital engineering
• Translating analysis results into actionable recommendations for U.S. Government agencies and mentoring junior engineers
