Job summary

VTG Defense in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Systems Engineer III to translate mission needs into system requirements and engineering products. You will coordinate across stakeholders to maintain technical alignment and support design trade studies.

Responsibilities include leading lifecycle engineering, developing key documents, guiding cross-functional integration, and mentoring junior engineers. A TS/SCI with Poly clearance, a bachelor's degree (masters preferred), and 10+ years of experience

Qualifications

• TS/SCI with Poly security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, or related field; Masters preferred.
• 10+ years of systems engineering experience.
• Lead/architect on complex integrated systems in mission environments.
• MBSE/SysML and DoDAF proficiency; familiarity with formal reviews (SRR/PDR/CDR).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, AWS/Azure, Security+).

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering across lifecycle: requirements strategy, architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, and baseline management.
• Own development of system requirements, interface control docs, architecture packages, and technical plans.
• Drive cross-functional technical integration across software, infrastructure, cyber, data, and test.
• Lead technical reviews and decision forums; develop trade studies and recommend solution paths.
• Establish and enforce requirements quality standards and manage change impacts.
• Mentor junior/mid engineers and implement engineering best practices.
• Provide technical input for program reporting, risk management, and customer briefings.
