Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a principal systems engineer to lead system-level engineering across multiple vehicle areas for the Human Landing System. You will set requirements, safety, and V&V standards, resolve high-consequence technical issues, and serve as the technical voice to NASA.

The role emphasizes lean, tool-driven workflows (Jama, Cameo, Windchill, DOORS), cross-site collaboration, and close coordination with leadership and customers. Relocation provided; travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• B.S. in aerospace, systems, or related engineering field; advanced degree may substitute part of the experience requirement
• 10+ years of systems engineering experience with demonstrated technical authority and/or system-level leadership
• Demonstrated ownership across the full SE lifecycle - requirements, safety, integration, and V&V across multiple functional areas
• Recognized go-to technical expert for a major system or program, solving problems and setting methods adopted by others
• Ability to set technical standards and earn adoption across teams without relying on positional authority
• Experience as a customer-facing technical interface (NASA or comparable government/prime customer)
• Deep fluency with SE tooling (Jama, Cameo, Windchill, DOORS) and ability to steer tool direction
• Executive-level communication to senior leadership and external customers
• Mentoring engineers to higher performance

Responsibilities

• Serve as a principal technical authority for system-level engineering across the team
• Set the technical standards for requirements decomposition, verification planning, and hazard disposition
• Resolve the most ambiguous, high-consequence technical problems across inter-element seams
• Define and improve requirements, safety, and V&V processes used by the team
• Act as a senior interface with NASA on requirements, verification, and safety
• Provide rationale to NASA showing lean approaches meet intent
• Lead lean, tool-driven methods that reduce manual effort at scale
• Design workflows that minimize hand-offs and unnecessary steps to improve mission assurance
