Job summary

Helsing, a leader in AI-enabled defense capabilities, seeks a Lead Systems Engineer to own the SE lifecycle for next-generation loitering munition systems for the U.S. Army in the Washington area.

You will mentor a team of systems engineers, translate government requirements into verified designs, and act as the technical authority across requirements, architecture, verification and integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, aerospace, mechanical, electrical or related field.
• 10+ years of systems engineering across defense, aerospace or munition life cycles.
• Strong communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Experience developing subsystem requirements and interfaces, including mission systems.
• Experience with DoD weapon systems, integration and test activities.
• Experience on mature aircraft or munition development programs, including testing and airworthiness.
• Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-882E, SAE ARP-4754A/4761, DO-178C/DO-254, MIL-STD-881.
• Experience with Cameo MagicDraw or similar SE tools.
• U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.
• Willingness to travel to test facilities and partner sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of system and subsystem requirements with traceability from government inputs to verified designs.
• Own requirements traceability from Government Requirements Matrix through verification and validation.
• Collaborate with software, safety, hardware and integration teams to develop robust architectures.
• Support certification by ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the SE IPT and manage SRR, PDR, CDR and readiness reviews.
• Provide technical leadership across the full system development lifecycle.
