Job summary

NBBJ Columbus is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Digital Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate is highly organized and adept at project management, collaborating with internal and external resources to design scalable solutions while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.

In this role you will lead, mentor, and cross-train team members, design and maintain highly available virtualized server platforms, and partner with vendors to evaluate offerings and support

Qualifications

• 7+ years of systems engineering in a mid-sized enterprise.
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware) and storage.
• Windows Server management, AD/Entra ID in multisite env.

Responsibilities

• Manage enterprise virtualization and storage platforms (VMware, HPE storage).
• Monitor storage health, performance, and growth trends; identify risks.
• Administer backup/recovery with Commvault; validate restores and DR readiness.
• Troubleshoot complex infra problems and develop sustainable solutions.
• Provide escalation support for admins and engineers.
• Lead, coach, and cross-train team members.
• Design and maintain highly available, scalable virtualized servers.
• Learn and integrate evolving infra technologies with existing systems.
• Partner with vendors to evaluate products and support procurement.
• Document workflows and configurations.
• Participate in on-call rotation and occasional travel.
