Job summary

Gridware is a San Francisco-based technology company protecting and enhancing the electrical grid. Gridware seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to lead ambiguous sensing and measurement problems with real-world impact.

You will become an expert in grid sensor signals, investigate sensing issues via exploratory data analysis, hardware simulation, and bench debugging, and validate improvements with tests you develop. This role centers on measurement performance and tech transfer, not product design.

Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with 4+ years of industry experience, or PhD with 1+ year.
• Proven track record owning ambiguous sensing or measurement-performance problems through validation.
• Experience writing analysis pipelines in Python, MATLAB, or equivalent, to investigate performance.
• Experience collecting high-quality electrical measurements with standard lab instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop measurement performance requirements and evaluate new sensors.
• Root-cause sensor signal issues using fleet telemetry and bench testing.
• Design and validate measurement chain changes to improve observability.
• Downsize on-device data with signal compression and sampling-rate strategies.
• Develop and own test methods to characterize sensor performance.
• Build hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure to validate changes.
• Mentor teammates and collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and HW/SW/FW engineers.
