Job summary

Amazon's EC2 Instance Networking team builds and operates the software‑defined networking stack at the heart of AWS. You will design and implement data plane networking on custom hardware, delivering VPC connectivity, security, and performance isolation for EC2 customers.

The role spans hardware, firmware, and software, with opportunities to impact customers at cloud scale. You will work on low‑level systems code in C and Rust, and collaborate across hardware, control plane, and ML platforms to

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture of distributed systems.
• 1+ year of SDE or related occupational experience.
• 1+ year designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, embedded or distributed software.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data plane networking software on custom hardware.
• Build and improve network virtualization systems for EC2 connectivity and security policy enforcement.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues across distributed embedded systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, control plane, and ML teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
