Job summary

By Light Professional IT Services LLC seeks an experienced systems engineer to maintain and operate network servers, virtualization, laptops, desktops, VDI, and related software/hardware for USTRANSCOM. The role includes after-hours support during events and on-call duties.

Responsibilities include monitoring infrastructure, installing and configuring OS and tools, ensuring availability, optimizing application performance, securing data, and collaborating with vendors and developers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
10+ years of experience preferred.
DoD Secret clearance or higher; TS/SCI preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
Install, configure, testing, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
Monitor and test application performance for bottlenecks; collaborate with developers to implement fixes.
Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
Liaise with vendors for problem resolution.
System vulnerability remediation and reporting.
System configuration and compliance.
Knowledge of UNIX/Linux/RedHat environments.
