Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Cloud team to support USTRANSCOM at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable cloud solutions that modernize the command’s infrastructure and applications.

You will provide technical leadership, design migration strategies, and ensure compliance with DoD cloud policy while collaborating with cross‑functional teams and mentoring junior staff to meet challenging program objectives.

Qualifications

• Ten (10) years or more experience.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance.
• IAT Level III certifications (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH).
• CE certification or certificate for Cloud/virtualization (Azure, AWS, Oracle, IBM, etc.) with a preference in Azure.
• Proficient knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux OS and CLI.
• Terraform, Terraform state management, and CloudFormation experience.
• Experience implementing environment workflows for development, staging and production environments.
• Strong CI/CD automation pipelines using GitLab CI.
• Experience troubleshooting end-to-end connectivity in DoD networks.
• Knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, etc.) and related tools.
• Experience using GitLab and Gitlab-runners; creating/updating GitLab pipelines.
• Experience with Docker and Podman; container networking expertise.
• Team-oriented with mentoring capability.
• Proactive in identifying and resolving tooling/process inefficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical leadership and hands-on development and implementation of cloud architectures with emphasis on security, scalability, and resiliency.
• Planning, designing, and managing migration, re-platforming, integration, and operation of complex cloud environments.
• Ensuring DoD cloud policy compliance across offerings and deployments.
• Advising on hardware/software selection, cloud provider choices, and data migration techniques for capacity planning.
• Maintaining knowledge of cloud computing standards, automation, and virtualization technologies.
• Engaging with senior managers to set strategic plans and objectives; guiding project execution and performance.
