Job summary

McKesson seeks a Sr. Systems Engineer to support reliable technology operations across our distribution centers, maintaining Windows servers/workstations, printers, RF devices, scanners, and scales. You will troubleshoot complex issues and document standards for audit readiness.

Lead cross-functional teams, mentor peers, and drive continuous improvement in a regulated distribution environment, ensuring operational continuity and scalable technology support for critical supply chain activities.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in systems administration, infrastructure support, distribution center technology, IT operations, or related role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows servers, workstations, printers, peripherals, and network-connected devices.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting WCS, warehouse automation, RF and mobile devices, barcode scanners, scales, printers, and sortation technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues across hardware, software, networks, business applications, and integrated automation environments.
  • Knowledge of incident management, root cause analysis, change management, security, and compliance practices.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, support procedures, SOPs, or operational standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working with business partners, technical teams, vendors, and distribution center Operations.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement, share technical knowledge, and mentor team members.

About the Role

McKesson is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to support reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations across our distribution center environments. In this role, you will help keep critical systems, devices, and infrastructure running smoothly, including Windows servers and workstations, printers, RF devices, scanners, and scales. You will troubleshoot complex issues, improve processes, document standards, and partner with cross-functional teams to support business‑critical operations in a regulated enterprise environment.


What You’ll Do


  • Support, configure, and maintain technology used in distribution centers, including RF devices, scanners, scales, printers, Windows workstations, and Windows server environments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated hardware, software, device, and infrastructure issues to reduce operational disruption.

  • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity to support reliable technology operations.

  • Partner with application, infrastructure, operations, and support teams to resolve complex business and technical issues.

Basic Requirements


  • Typically requires 7+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, distribution center technology, IT operations, or a related technical role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience supporting Windows servers, workstations, printers, peripherals, and network-connected devices.

  • Hands‑on experience supporting WCS, warehouse automation, RF and mobile devices, barcode scanners, scales, printers, and sortation technologies.

  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues across hardware, software, networks, business applications, and integrated automation environments.

  • Knowledge of incident management, root cause analysis, change management, security, and compliance practices.

  • Experience creating technical documentation, support procedures, SOPs, or operational standards.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with experience working with business partners, technical teams, vendors, and distribution center Operations.

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement, share technical knowledge, and mentor team members.


Preferred Skills/Experience


  • Experience supporting industrial scanning technologies, including SICK scanning solutions, Package Analytics, and Zebra mobile and scanning devices.

  • Familiarity with device management, imaging, patching, monitoring, IT service management, and remote support tools.

  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, access management, and infrastructure security.

  • Experience with performance monitoring, capacity planning, recurring‑issue reduction, and operational reliability improvements.

  • Experience supporting supply chain technology in a regulated distribution center environment.


Travel / Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Work may be performed in office, warehouse, distribution center, remote, or hybrid environments, supporting business‑critical supply chain and distribution operations. Up to 25% travel may be required to support distribution centers, project implementations, hardware deployments, operational readiness activities, and technology upgrades. Participation in on‑call rotations, maintenance windows, and after‑hours support may be required to maintain operational continuity and respond to critical incidents.


Work may involve supporting Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), warehouse automation, industrial scanning systems, RF/mobile devices, printers, sortation systems, and other operational technologies utilized within distribution center environments. Ability to safely work around warehouse equipment, conveyor systems, automation technologies, and related operational infrastructure. Ability to occasionally lift, move, install, or troubleshoot technology equipment and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to access equipment located in offices, computer rooms, distribution centers, and warehouse environments as needed to support operational requirements.


Pay Range

Our Base Pay Range for this position $127,000 - $211,600
