Job summary

Draper, an independent nonprofit R&D organization in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to apply systems thinking and advanced methodologies to complex, enterprise-level problems across Navy, Air Force, and MDA domains. The role emphasizes model-based engineering, data-driven decision making, and cross-domain integration through the full product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field; master's preferred.
• 5–10 years of systems engineering experience.
• Ability to communicate across customers, engineers, managers, and stakeholders.
• Experience with modeling and simulation tools and analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute system engineering lifecycle assignments.
• Adapt to changes in program priorities and requirements.
• Adheres to Quality Management System processes.
• Expand depth of technical discipline through ongoing learning.
• Work within multi-disciplinary teams and independently execute assignments.
• Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction.
• Lead small teams and align them to program goals.
• Provide design insights based on analysis outcomes and apply methods across challenges.
• Identify program/system-level risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
