Job summary

Intelligent Waves seeks a System Engineer Level III – Data Scientist in Linthicum Heights, MD, to lead advanced data science efforts on a cybersecurity contract. The role demands 20+ years of systems engineering experience, with deep expertise in NLP, ML, data extraction, and DoDAF-compliant architecture.

Proficiency in Python and/or R is required, plus experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Apache Tika, and PDFMiner. Security clearance: TS/SCI with polygraph.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, CS, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or related field.
• Twenty (20) years of systems engineering experience with a degree (or twenty-five (25) years without).
• Large data systems experience including NLP and ML.
• Data extraction from unstructured/semi-structured sources (PDFs, CONOPS, DoDAF).
• Programming experience in Python and/or R; active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements analysis, system architecture design, integration, and testing.
• Develop DO- or DoDAF‑compliant architectures and SOA considerations.
• Document Systems Engineering Plans, Specifications, and JCIDS artifacts.
• Oversee data extraction, processing, and NLProcessed data workflows.
• Collaborate with Government stakeholders and program leadership to ensure technical integrity.
