Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Commercial Applications & ERP) to join an innovative agricultural biotechnology organization focused on advancing food and nutrition through science for a hybrid permanent position based out of Durham, NC. The Senior Systems Engineer (Commercial Applications & ERP) will serve as a key partner to commercial and operations teams, designing and delivering scalable software solutions, business systems, and integrations that improve efficiency, visibility, and business outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer (Commercial Applications & ERP) include:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to evaluate workflows, gather requirements, and translate operational needs into effective technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications, including backend services, databases, integrations, and user-facing interfaces.
• Configure, optimize, and integrate ERP and SaaS platforms, including NetSuite or similar systems, to support business operations.
• Evaluate custom development versus platform configuration approaches and recommend solutions that balance scalability, speed, and business value.
• Lead solution delivery efforts, communicate technical decisions to stakeholders, and provide guidance to fellow engineers when needed.

Qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer (Commercial Applications & ERP) include:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, business applications, or enterprise technology environments.
• Demonstrated experience building full-stack solutions and integrating ERP, SaaS, or enterprise platforms using APIs and data integrations.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including maintainable code, testing methodologies, and version control systems.
• Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders, managing competing priorities, and driving adoption of technology solutions.

Compensation for the Senior Systems Engineer (Commercial Applications & ERP):

Salary Range: $130,000-$150,000/year (USD)
